Highway Construction Through Iran's Golestan

Government of Iran finally has decided to construct a 4 lanes highway through Golestan National Park... despite protests from the media, academia, NGOs, and local people.

This national park is the remnant of Hyrcanian forest (Pontic Province, paleaearctic Realm) with uniquebiodiversity. Golestan National Park is also registered as Biosphere reserve (MA of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO).
